Waywood Fair Trade brings you beautiful jewellery and products from around the world.

These unique, high quality items cost much less than you'd expect for Fair Trade products and significantly less than many non-fair trade items you'll find in High Street retailers and fashion shops.

Everything we sell is fairly traded meaning that the artisans and craftsmen can provide a good standard of living for themselves and their families.

Our range has recently expanded to include jewellery made of tagua or 'vegetable ivory'. This is made from the nut of  Phytelephas aequatorialis, commonly known as Ecuadorean Ivory Palm. Renewed interest in tagua, originally used as an ivory substitute for the manufacture of toggles on duffle coats) has provided an economic incentive to preserve the indigenous palm tree, helping to prevent further depletion of the rainforest. Our supplier was one of the first to establish fair trading links with Latin America as far back as 1978, working alongside Oxfam and Traidcraft, carving a path that many others would later follow when Fair Trade became more 'trendy'.  Since that time they have built a network supporting hundreds of families and small co-operatives in Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, El Salvador, Columbia, Ecuador, Chile and Bolivia ... and the list is increasing.  Every item is handcrafted with pride.

Jewellers employ a range of skills, from traditional, honed over the centuries, their designs reflecting local culture, through to methods derived from the space programme.  So whilst Amazonian artisans recycle local resources such as bone, quills and coconut shell, others work intricate designs in glass, ceramics, silver and semi-precious stones, and still others use space age technologies to produce stunningly beautiful dichroic glass jewellery.

There's something for all tastes.

We believe in fair, ethical trading AND that this quality should be available at a realistic price.  These products are outstanding value for money, but just to help that little bit more, we also significantly discount every item we sell.
